Surface hygiene

Stop working around your sprinkler heads.

Surface hygiene is the routine work that keeps thatch and organic matter in check. Today, every sprinkler head on the field interrupts it. Our retrofit carrier, made for specific rotor models, is designed so a crew can lower the heads below the surface, work straight across, then bring them back to grade before play.

The work stops at every head.

Crews stop short of each sprinkler head and start again past it. So the turf around each head misses the pass, time after time.

In our experience, it’s often some of the wettest, poorest turf on the field: the turf that needs the work most gets it least.

Today

The pass stops short of every head and starts again past it.

Heads lowered

The pass goes straight across. Then the heads go back to grade before play.

With the carrier

Patents pending

Down for the work. Back up for play.

The same turn at the surface that keeps a head at grade is designed to take it below the surface, too.

  1. 1

    Turn the heads down

On the rotor models it is made for, the carrier is designed so a crew can lower a head below the surface, working from grade. No dig, no turf cut.

  2. 2

    Work straight across

With the heads lowered, surface-hygiene machines can pass straight over them instead of going around. The turf around each head gets the same work as the rest of the field.

  3. 3

    Back to grade before play

Turn each head back up to grade before the field is watered or played. Left down, a head is a pocket in the turf, and its spray can’t clear the grass.

Watch it lowered for the work

A straight answer before you plan the work.

The same adjustment, both ways

On the rotor models it is made for, the carrier is designed so the turn that raises a head as topdressing builds the field up also lowers it for the work, from the surface. Then turn each head back to grade before play.

How the carrier works

It depends on the machine

Which passes can go over a lowered head depends on how deep the machine works. Tell us what you run and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Ask about your equipment

Made for specific rotors

The carrier is made for specific rotor models, not every head on the market. Tell us which rotors you run and we’ll tell you where fit stands.
